Monte Carlo......

Post by MobileAudio219 »

Ehhh, so I bought another car today...

Got it from my uncle. It's a 97 monte carlo, white with grey interior. It's a nice car, but has a blow head gasket/cracked head(s). I'm bought it for 200 bucks, I'm going to pull the motor and do a quick rebuild on it and drive it for the winter I guess...

It kinda like the car actually, alot more room inside than I thought there would be... Truck is big and the seats fold down, so I'll probably get some nice 12's and some components for up from...

I'm going to pull the motor and have the crank polished and replace the rod/main bearings. The cyl will be honed and the rings replaced. The heads will be checked and probably plained down, new valve stems/guides. New timing chain, water pump, oil pump, all new gaskets/seals, ect...

I'm basically make it a remain. motor..

I'll post pictures tomorrow. We had a family reunion today so I had my camera full already.

Yeah, it's basically a 2 door lumina...

It's going to be nice to be able to have a car that gets around decent in the snow and being able to haul more than one passenger.

It's been a while since I've had a car that wasnt a foxy body or f-body... and my last 2 trucks have been single cabs...

I have a black one like that and I only put on about 4500 miles a year on it so I dont notice gas mileage that much. sure nice in the winter though.

You'll be real happy with the Monte, I love my 99... Like you said there is tons of room surprisingly enough... and to be honest I like the bullet shape better than the newer ones.
So did you get a 3.4ltr or the 3.1? Cause I know they didn't throw the 3.8 in the Z34s like mine till later on.

And where's the pics? You should know better than to throw up a thread about a new car with no pics :p

It has the 3100...

I actually think it's the lower intake gasket... I'm going to pull it apart, if its blown I'm going to put it back together with new gaskets and hope for the best... If nothing else, I'll pick up another motor and rebuild it...
