Guys pays to have body kit put on... wow!

I just can't figure out why the guy even did this

It's like he a screw machine gun set to kill or something.

If the pieces fit right out of the box and all you had to do was scuff and shoot, then 350-400 for paint and 350-400 for labor doesnt seem insanely cheap too me..

It might be a little on the cheap side, but if business is a little slow then sometimes you have to do a discounted job here or there to keep the doors open until business picks back up...

I've seen alot of businesses go under because they would rather sit around with their thumbs up their @sses than give a bit of a discount and stay busy and make a little less money...

alot of those fiberglass kits are not even close to fitting. some of them seem to be more universal than anything. The ones I have done I would not ever do again.

I have no clue how to put a body kit on. But Im gonna venture a guess its not by self drilling deck screws... lol

At least he painted the screw heads...

lol ya I noticed that too.
So did he paint this kit on the car? Wouldn't it make more sense to paint them off the car, and then install them?

I've found that there is no such thing as a perfect fit and I have a professional body and paint guy do ours... and $750 for install and paint would be a hell of a discount on a proper job for that kit... We'd be more along the $1200 range (not including the body kit itself).

As for that shop if I were the customer... there would be no verbal threats, no kicking of butts, but also no paycheck to them and an immediate call to my attorney.

That particular body kit looks like polyurethane rather than fiberglass..

I dont know, I guess I'm just a bit different... I've literally spent all day weedeating for 75 dollars just so I could have enough to make the bills on time...

Yeah I had a poly front bumper kit on my S10.

I paid a shop to paint it, and installed it myself.

It wasn't hard to do, but took a lot of tweaking to get the install up to my standards.

You dont see alot of fiberglass body kits anymore, most are poly...

The fit wasnt too good at all, but the way he painted/installed it was even worse...

I agree with Ryan, the shop should have to buy the car from him... It's just horrible...

Thes a body shop down the road that would paint all those pieces for probably 300 bucks, that still leaves 450 for labor and you should be able to do that in a day.... 450 + 1 = not too shabby for a SLOW shop...

And yeah, the kit didnt feel to well, but the shop owner should of called the kid and had him return it. If the kits off by that much, I dont really know what you can do with poly to reform it...
