I would go with some slim mount subs that way he isn't losing any legroom making space for larger subs. Also with slim mount, most of them work very well in small sealed boxes. I had two 12" Kickers Yellow letters in the back of my Ford F150 stepside back in the early 90's. I had NO legroom. but it was loud. Have him look at the slim line subs out there, and maybe he might be able to find some Illusion Audio 12's or 15's...I have seen those installed in standard cabs as well.

Like someone said, if he wants a body color cap, then he can put some subs in there and allow them to blow through the back window. We built one that had 4 Kicker Solo 12's ( the old Round ones ) each with its own 1cuft sealed box, and powered it with 4 Orion Xtreme( not the xtr ) series amps. These were the purple ones. That sucker HAMMERED!

BTW, it was four RE8's powered by a Kicker kx600.1. Loved these little guys. They ended up getting smashed up in shipping tho :(

If he wants to get into glassin' there are almost limitless possiblities. Make a mold of the back wall of the cab and go from there.

true that..... fiberglassing creates a lot more room. it can be costly and definitely is an experience if you have never done it before.

those little re re8's were pretty nice.... a few of those at a pretty cheap price would be awesome.

It is a lot of work, but I have found, no longer than I have been doin it, that it is very rewarding. You basically start with nothing, and as the prject progresses, you see it takin shape more and more. It is a lot of fun also.
