In an effort to smooth things out, I posted this in a new thread. You can read more about this in another thread in the discussion forum. I am to blame also on the whole MA posting too much. In the XXX thread it ran into several pages, I kept answering his posts, I thought we were having fun, and that was it. I knew we were going way off topic, but I kept going anyway.
I didn't really see the harm in it, and I agree with Bill I believe, who said the thread or board, whichever it was, was dead before he started posting.
He is alot of fun to the board, and a definite stress reliever at least for me.
So don't throw this just in MA's lap lay it on me too, cause I was the one keeping up with his posts.
I know we want to have a professional board where people can come an get answers to questions, but we also need a place to hang out and have fun. And if nothing else just be guys... random thoughts, fart jokes, boobie comments...whatever. This is the only real stress reliever I have. I work long hours, like the rest of us, and obsess over every nuance of my system, and I am trying to raise a family.
Anyway this is my thoughts.

The biggest issue we have is that we want people to be able to use the search function and find what they need without sifting through garbage basically (don't think I'm referring to yalls posts as garbage! but this is how an outsider would see it). See all the random chatter annoys me on forums where I try to find answers to questions.
As long as all the random stuff is in off-topic and not cluttering up informative threads, I don't see any issue whatsoever about the rate of posts or how on-topic it is.
So please, say whatever you want in off-topic threads. It should stay in that forum and not clutter any help-seeking/informative threads.

And thats the bottom line, as William put it (we got to many Bills!).
I realize you and Zero were feeding him. But he was the catalyst of it all. Not like we beat him with a stick. And if we did, I dont think he would say anything. Otherwise I might have to beat him again...

I agree the forums been very slow lately. I agree what was going on was livening things up. But like William said, it clutters the board. It takes a thread and kills it. Im sure if you had a serious thread up and it spun out of control and it wasnt fully answered you might get a bit mad also. Thats the whole point.
You guys want to have fun threads, fine. Starts new ones in off topic.
Thats the jist of the whole deal. Theres nothing deeper to it than that.

Terry, I don't think that anyone here doesn't want us to have fun... You and I both are good for having fun with a thread and keeping it along the topic lines.
Example:
Topic Question: Which sub is better "Type A" or "Type B" for this amp
On topic answer: Depends on your listening type, how much space you have, etc.
Then you or I step in and say something completely outrageous that could never be taken seriously, like "Just wire that amp to your stock 6x9"s and you're good for 210dBs" with a lil "J/K" or "
lol" at the end... Something like that brings levity to the thread and gets everyone a good laugh without going into this whole Wayyy off topic thing like "Go make me a sandwich".

I understand what you and william are saying, I want people to get the answers they need too. But the question had been answered before me and Mobile got started on our trip. If you refer back to the post I asked him if the question had been answered and he said yes that he had answered it. Then it got locked.
I don't even have a problem with the thread being locked, I guess I just don't see it the way you guys do. You guys are the suits and the rest of us are tee shirts and jeans.
The way I look at it is this, it's like when you are at work sittin around the breakroom table and someone asks a question, the question gets answered, and then everybody else talks about something else until a new question is asked and answered.
The person who posted the thread obviously wasn't offended, or he would have chimed in.
This kind of stuff is what loses members, and I don't want to see that happen. I really like this board, I practically quit posting on the other board I was on when I found this one.
Oh well...If the means justifies the end I guess that is all that matters.
