Side Project: ?

Post by ZeroAccess »

Ok, I believe I'm going to get a substantial raise at work and with that I am going to spend a substantial amount of money.

My first thing is to purchase me a truck and I've been looking for a few and think I got that taken care of pretty easily. My job is auctioning some F-150's and people telling to that they going for like 1,000 bucks and being they are 2002+ with a lot of mileage but fleet maintained it seems worth it.

So that breaks me into this thread,
I'm bored, really bored, I've been playing on the computer and xbox's and what not and its really boring to me. I'm the type of person I need to be doing stuff.

I want to get me a project car and start working on it.
I'm trying to get an idea on what would be a fun starter car to work on.
I'm a mechanic in the diesel field so as far as putting everything together I got the tools.

I've been tossing the idea of mustangs/camaro's to Mr2/Porsche 944 turbo's

I'm not really certain what I want some days I want a good lil auto-x'er where I can take a turn at 29323 mph and litterally pull 2 G's and then others I just want something with so much power I can eat the asphalt off the road.

Just figured I'd get ya'lls take on your projects or friends projects and how they went/continue to go.

I've been looking at these for a long time
I love the styling of the fox body...only downfall is they cost so damn much down here it seems.

Even for a rust bucket ppl want like 2,000 dollars I think it'd be easier to find one somewhere else and ship it here sometimes.

First off, congrats on the Raise!

2nd, don't do a Porsche 944 Turbo...the parts are ridiculously High! I used to own an 89 944Turbo and it alone ate my lunch on part, not that the 77 930 was better, but, at least I got my money back out of that one.

Best bang for your buck is the Foxbody or the SN95 series of Mustang. The 5.0L engine has a huge following with the aftermarket and the early 4.6L's have potential, once you go with PI heads and intake. I would choose the Mustang FTW.

I would buy a Chevy chevette and drop a 350 in it with a turbo 350 some how. and then i would proceed to die really fast.
