Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I rode up to "pick n pull" with my uncle today. I love going up there and checking out the explorers to see if I can find any with the 5.0's (GT 40 heads and intake.) Well right off the bat I see one with that beautiful V8 badge on the fender, but when I opened the hood the heads and intake were gone, damn.
However, when I started to walk around a voice said check the hatch area. Sure enough, somebody got the heads and threw the intake (upper and lower) in the back... SCORE!!!!
So I pick them up and walk over to find my uncle. I held them up with a big smile, lookie at what I found. He grins, points to the explorer he's standing in front off, heres another with the HEADS and INTAKE. and the intake is almost off!
I grabbed the tool box and had the intake sitting in the wheel barrow in about 10 mins.
I started on the heads when some kid came up and said "damn it, I was here this morning and wanted the heads but had to go home and get more tools, Oh well!"
Already feeling blessed to have the 2 set of intakes, I told him "Ehh, go ahead if you really want them."
So yeah, I'm extremely happy. Paid 80 bucks for the 2 pairs. Listed them on a local mustang forum, craigslist, and my towns classfieds. The first pair sold in less than 10 mins on the local mustang forum.... For 150 bucks. I them listed for 200, but 150 will still put me at a pretty good profit.

Yeah, but when you swap the heads youre going to have the exhaust manifolds off anyways, which means it would be silly not to go ahead and get some headers. I think the ford racing ones allows for proper plug wire clearance.smoker wrote:you suck, i been looking for the explorer intake and heads for a while. although the heads are a gt40p and you need different headers ideally to run them on the mustangs due to plug angles
96 and early 97 explorers had the GT 40 X heads (like the cobras) and intake.
If you can find a tubular GT 40 intake they sell for around 500 bucks on ebay.
Still have one more intake, p design of couse... You know you want it!

We got a couple decent yards out by us on this side of Toledo... The ones I hate are those that won't let you in and they pull for you... I like being able to just browse, sometimes you find a golden nugget... Hell one time I found a $20 :)

i dont know about the x heads but a lot of headers are"p" friendly nowadays, it wasnt so back about 10 years ago when i first started screwing with fords...i have actually 3 yards like that all within about 20 minutes of the shop or my house depending on where im at..one of them used to have 35 dollar day. anything you could carry 35 feet for 35 bucks....they would let 2 guys carry an item for 35 a person....we yanked a 460 and c6 trans one day and me and my buddy carried it out of there for 70 bucks...or course we left the cast iron manifold and exhaust manifolds thinking we were helping ourselves but it was still a bitch. a crowd was gathered around to see if we could do it or not...
