well I can tell you this. I hate regular Heineken, but I will drive to holland just to get Heineken brown bottles. The stuff the export taste totally different than the stuff you can get in country.

The same goes for all the german pilsners I drink. I can go on base and get the exported version and it sucks. Go off base, and its wonderful.

And thats the great american conspiracy of beer...

Trust me... Germany has a lot to offer in regards to great drinkable beer... It will blow you away what you are missing when you try a few pints...

As for German Pilsners... oh yea... My brother brought me back a growler of Hofbrewhaus (sp) Dark lager.......... I nearly cried when i drank it... thats how great it was
