Thats why 99% of the fuel saving technology never sees the light of day. The oil/auto industries buy the patents and then put them into the round file.
Then when all the oil runs out in the coming years, they introduce the patents that they bought, and make even more money :attitude

The world governments and corporations (yes that includes the gas companies) are all out to get me and you may not realize it (or maybe you do), but you're all a part of it too... Even what I consider my loving wife is a part of it... Her defense is: "how's come everything that happens bad to you also happens to me?" My response "They needed an insider"

If the oil ever runs out we will be way beyond the technology and patents they are buying now. In fact don't they have 30 years worth of oil siting untouched under Alaska?

I'm thinking more along the lines of the major corporations and governments having this plan of either planting computer chips in your brains or brain washing through those ultrasound machines in the womb.

And you know while at the dentist's office today I picked up a magazine (damn I wish I could remember which one now), but anyway... It had a talk with a scientist about developing a newer fuel through micro-orginisms that would turn CO2 into usable fuel without a water base... was pretty interesting and he was saying that these would be micro refineries that would be no bigger than factories used for fermenting wine, so they could be in every decent sized city.
He didn't want to give up to much information as of yet, but said that with the way the development has been going it should be available within a matter of years and not decades.

There's more oil in the lower 48 than in all discovered deposits in the middle east. If only 20% of that is recoverable that alone would be enough oil to supply the United States demands of energy for easily the next 100 years.
