Just thought I would share because this had me pretty freaked out. I was up late on the computer and a super cell thunderstorm hit without notice. I heard the wind howl and it sounded like a semi was coming through our backyard.
A tornado hit in the circle just behind our home and two houses had their roofs blown off...we had a tree uprooted and numerous very big branches down. I had secured a gazebo to our deck with wood screws and actually witnessed it spiral into the air at least 40 feet, and it is now a mangled mess in the neighbor's yard. Our fence is gone too but our house is okay and we're fine. Very scary for sure!!

The crazy thing was that the storm moved through and produced a tornado so fast it touched down before the sirens even went off. Luckily the wind woke up my wife and she ran down to the basement where I was. I can't believe we don't have any roof damage because a lot of people do. They say it was a category F2 with 135 mph winds. I called in the claim to our homeowner's for the fence but I guess the trees aren't covered so we'll have to replace those ourself. Maybe I'll get a decent fence out of the deal at least. Not the way I wanted to spend my weekend cutting and hauling branches, but we are really fortunate that we are safe and our house is okay. I'll post some pictures after I upload them to photobucket.William from NOLA wrote:Yea, glad everyone is alright. I hope you have insurance. I've only seen a few waterspouts, but no tornadoes (even though they are basically the same thing).
Did you have enough time to get somewhere safe?
In our backyard
Up-rooted apple tree

Gazebo LOL!!

And now the real destruction All pictures taken from my backyard, these hit the street behind us...
