Not in my opinion. the only real way to test port length is to test it. but thats just me. im sure many will argue but few have the experience. it gives you a decent idea but its not anywhere near exact. thats y you didnt see me use any computer programs to find the length in the buick. there are to many other factors that change the tuning. also most of the time your playing the cars resonant not the boxes.loudwagon15s wrote:well, isnt it at least good for calculating port legnth?
An example i believe back when we did my Buick Winisd calculated a length of 10 inches for 32hz tuning it turned out to be around 36hz at that length

Well Ive been using it for years now.
Its not an end all be all program, some common sense is required.
I see people using it to graph SPL and such, and get a kick out of it.
All I use it for is port lengths and gain graphing. It gives me a rough idea of what the subs capable of in the box thats input.
I can tune a sub all day to 34 hz. But sometimes your vehicles are higher, say 45 Hz in the case of my Buick Century. So tuning to 45 Hz gave the best SPL. Then you have the downfall of loosing most of the Fs below 45 Hz though.
So like I said, common sense applies.
