Far too much work? Like avoiding shady websites and downloads, and generally not being a retard? okay. Most of my windows issues have been PEBKAC or ID107 related problems. I will admit that windows does plenty of security issues - mainly due to it having 90-95% of the market, thus making it FAR more targeted than Mac.
You shouldn't be responsible for it? So if you get in a car accident, blame Ford?
With all that said, i actually want to get a mac just to mess around with. I still like windows XP and Vista (although i do not use Vista as much/for the same things as XP so i really haven't gotten a good look at it yet). Windows Defender is annoying and vista is slow since my laptop is fairly low end.
and your analogy is way off.

no, if you get in a car accident, it's not ford's fault.

but if you give them $20,000 for a new car and a month later you are under the hood trying to figure out why the hell the car isnt running smoothly, that's justified? no way. THAT is my point.

I still would be real careful what you do on the net, especially with a mac. Right now, there are a bunch more serious viruses and whatnot for mac than for windows.

Everyone's best bet is Linux. It's unhackable :D

I MAY be going to look at a laptop this weekend... There is a small privately owned computer shop up here that has 3 IBMs pentium 4 (I believe) with XP pro... these are 1 year old off lease and he's asking $399 each.
I know some of you know the old POS that I'm running on now are probably thinking OMG, he may finally be getting a newer computer LOL.

I know it's 1 gig ram, but that's about it right now... Yeah the price is decent and that's why I want to go see exactly how good a deal it is :)

Man for that big of ram that is a really good deal. Do you know the guy personally?? I gave $900. for my wife's Sony Vaio, then with the office depot rebates it brought it down to $750. The processor and stuff don't much matter for that price, shoot you could afford an upgrade or two if need be.

You should jump, like, all over it.
