Point north. I'm in that general direction. Lol.

Honestly, I'm not even going to go in the great detail I did the first time when writing the initial storey. But let's just say I was a kid with no money that was super excited to have a stereo installed in his '92 Stang and ended up having a stereo hooked up with wire that's usually used to plug in a lamp.

The music was barely audible due to the high pitch scream of the alternator coming through all the speakers. The guy at Radio Shack screwed me good. Myself having no experience with systems at the time didn't even know what to do about it. It bummed me out for sure.

This Circuit City job looks very much like the job performed on the old Stang.

I think just about any installer that has been doing it a while has seen his fair share of installs like that... although normally they are done by the kid or one of his friends that think they know what they're doing.

Oh really? Ha, that's too good. There was three stores in one. So mabey that's how they got away with things. It was a Radio Shack, music store(with instruments and everything) and a hobby spot. Among other things.

It wasn't the last time I was screwed in the stereo department. Even when I thought I was dealing with a stand-up business in the same town they got it wrong. Different business, not RS So I've been hesitant to have anyone install my stereo into my 2005 Explorer. I'm not sure if I can handle another ass pounding... lol. The stereo has been collecting dust for quite some time. Still looks brand new.

cargodz wrote:^ Very good points... But Chris at BB is kinda the rare breed within the big box stores.

Yes he is I have seen pics of his work. I can't understand how CC is getting away with not paying for it though??

That is why I will ALWAYS use a local shop, and yes I consider a two hour drive local, because:

Our actual local guy is only in it for the yuppies,

And I like Terry's work ethic and philosphy.

And I just don't trust the big box stores, I know all the installers ain't bad (in the case of Chris), but banging out installs is all most of em care about

MORE, FASTER, HARDER. is there mindset.

My opinion though take it as it is,

Tim
