Wiring Help

Post by falkenbd »

Here is a wiring question for you all.

I currently have 0/1 Gauge from my battery to my trunk. It is then run into a distro block where 4 or 8 gauge goes to each of my amps.

The amps are one on each side of the trunk, and it takes about 4.5 feet of wire to go from the distro block around the corner of the truck to the amp.

The way I currently have it wired, the Ground is under the back seat and I use about 8 inches of 0/1 guage to go into another distro block. As with the power wire about 4.5 feet is required to go to the amp.

What is a better solution?

Here are my options:

1 - Leave it as is (Does this make my ground wires too long?)
2 - Use 1-2 feet of 4 or 8 to ground each amp on its own behind the carpet (I 'm not sure if I can do this)
3 - Place the ground and distro block near the spare tire and run 2-3 feet of ground wire from the distro block to each amp
4 - Get a reducer for each amp and run like 8" of 0/1 to a few inches of 4 or 8

Some of these options are cheaper than others - Which are feasible or the best? Any other ideas?

It may just be your HU, or gain settings.

If you're only getting a slight, don't worry about it. You're not going to hear it when playing music. Also, you want to always ground everything at the same point. Grounding at different points can be one of the reasons you get ground loops.
