2ohm -- 4ohm

Post by 07grey »

Can the impedence of a loudspeaker be increased by adding some resistors to the terminals? I have some 2ohm units that keep tripping the protection circuits. Thank you

It's a no-no to do that. You're going to be changing the FR by using a single resistor to change impedance. Not to mention you can overheat the resistor and potentially cause a fire. Either wire multiple in series to get a higher impedance or get an amp that can handle them.

^ Ditto... a resistor used in that fashion is just asking for a world or problems.

Why not just wire them togher for a 4 ohm load and bridge the amp?
