make sure you get one with right bearings. the motors are a pos they had to replace like 50000 of them because they were throwing bearings left and right. engineer buddy at works was a pos had it back and forth at the shop 25 times

You guys fail to remember I worked in the plant that makes the LS7 (zo6) cranks.

Hell I designed fixturing for the timing ring, plug and bearing installer not to mention a leak tester for the plug.

And the GT40...

Each and EVERY GT40 crank has to be reworked... Ford has a pile of them made up then there was some sort of a change, so each one is reworked.

You guys think thats nuts...

Try the Viper cranks... They are forged. I dont even think they go thru a heat treat process (been a few years). I dont recall them going out or coming back. They just go from forging down the line and out the door. Besides that, most are made on manual grinding machines...

ah my bad i did mean the X... i cant believe its already big number 10 for them! I think the best car for $20K thats loads of fun... and realistically its not new but... like 1 year old... Mini Cooper... damn i had sooo much fun testing out one of those out in LimeRock racing track... Nope it wasnt the S but it was so great to just put it through the turns and dip in and out really quickly... reminds me of when i was little and used to go to the go-kart tracks.

not a bad lil car, if you like your cars being powered by the same engine that was in the Taurus for all those years...yup...a 3.0 liter v6 sourced from Ford...but it is twin-turbocharged for your pleasure.

if money was no object, I would probably just trade my nuts in on a little known automaker with a well known last name. Shelby...not the old guy mind you...but this young buck who makes this: SCC Ultimate Aero

Noble uses the (much better) duratec platform that they introduced in 1996, which the Taurus did use the Duratec from 96 on up but the models before that point they used the crappier essex V6. Motors are polar opposites as far as quality is concerned. Aston Martin's 6.0L V-12 is comprised of two Duratec 30s fused together. Not a bad little performance platform, primary engineering input of the Duratec came from Porsche and cylinder head manufacture was helped by Cosworth

Ford is supposed to be coming out with a twin turbo direct injected version of the Duratec 37. I'd really like to see them put something like that in a sports car but it won't happen because of competition with the mustang. The naturally aspirated version in the CX9 makes a good chunk of power for it's size already, matching or beating anything in it's class. But a 3.7L twin turbo direct injected version in a light car would be direct competition with the car that started this topic
