These people are idiots. They make me not WANT to give my money to the recording industry. I realize it's not the artists faults, but that's the result of the RIAA actions.

I hope everything goes independent. Music has really just turned into a business and that sucks. I won't buy cd's today and have hardly bought any (maybe 2 or 3) since they started suing people.

As rediculous as it is, copying your own cd's (as in ones you've bought) is actually illegal. I still have no problem backing up mine. I mean, hell, I paid for it, I want to still have it later on.

You payed for your own copy of those songs... should it matter how you format them? I mean what if I were to buy a legal song download online... does that mean that I can only listen to it on my computer... not to mention, what if I get a new computer... does this mean I have to buy a new copy of it? I know I'm dealing in extremes, but heck so are they.

the only thing they're trying to do is make more money... by attempting to force people to have to buy a copy o a song/album where ever they want to play it... i'm sure eventually they'll say its illegal to use the same CD in your car as you do in your house!

remember when blank tapes came out they did this back then.
itd be nice to get rid of all the premanufactured music that they play all day on the radio that would be cool id buy cds or records again. i dont even list to it anymore unless theres a good delta blues night or on occasion i listen to george noory

Read a little more on the comment section.

Basically the article writer is an idiot.

The accused ripped CDs. Put them on their computer which was connected to Kazza. The music was in a shared file. The RIAA useses a company to investigate for them. Said company found the accused on Kazza and did a listing of all files available from the accused. Thats when they discovered over 4,000 files.

The people prosecuting his is seeking the minimum allowed by law, expecting a faster judgment and quicker payout.

If the RIAA wins the guy has to pay over $40,000...
