I'll have to admit that engines are not my thing, I know almost nothing about them. (lol)
I want to try and keep it simple tho, a carbed 350 or even a 305 at that would be a 2000% improvement on what I have now :)

Aha. If your sticking with a carb then you have quite a few more cheap options. I'm assuming this is more of a weekend warrior setup?

Ya I would love to find someone to just do it for me, and not cost a fortune. So many I talk to don't even want to touch it because so much needs to be changed.

Ticked I have to replace the 700r4 just because the bell housing is different from a v6 and v8. GRR!!

My main goal of the car is to get it looking nice again, a decent/reliable engine and a system put back in. Get the HID retro done, all the LEDS etc, make it a little more show worthy.

I haven't decided yet, but the TBI 305 in my red 89 RS may be coming out in favor of a stroker 383. For now I'm just working on suspension & chassis and almost have a good starting point there. If it comes out, I'll keep you in mind, should be able to convert that to carb, I might keep the throttle body setup. :D

Now that sounds like a plan. :thumbsup

Chris, if you're not worried about mileage at all, then go with a carb. Your '84 has one more emissions check next year, but after that you can pretty much throw that to the wind too. (wish that were true for my IROC).

BTW, are you planning on keeping your AC, cruise, power stuff, or stripping it down?

It sounded super... By doing this it added the extra bass with a nice range to the cabin and allowed for all of the highs to come from the front stage. The added bonus was being able to power everything from a single 4ch. amp placed under the passenger seat... Basically goes the same route of what we recommend to everyone about dropping the rear stage and concentrating on the fronts, and if you really want rears to stick with midbass... This had the minor exception of the 8"s carrying a lil more than your average midbass... I really wish he still had the car.

Yep no more more emissions after this year! woohoo!!!
The car was a base model, so no A/C or Cruise, I added power windows and locks to it so at least it's not a total stripped model anymore :)

cargodz :: Right on man, that's what I wanted to hear. Getting my amp out of the so-called "trunk" would help a lot as well. BTW, what speakers did you have up front with that setup?

Chris :: I'm envious of stripped cars like that. I still have the remnants of my cruise harness up under the dash. Makes it so much easier now that all that crap is out from under the hood though.

I believe we used the Fusion Jonah Lomu 5.25" components (trying to remember for sure as it was 3 years ago that we did the work :p )... I am however sure that we used a Fusion Powerplant 500watt 4 channel amp cause it fit perfect under the seat (8.75"Wx 2.25"Hx 15"L)... I do remember that we did the components in the door with the tweeters on the A pillar. :thumbsup

Did that car have power windows? I've been reading thirdgen.org and there seems to be some disagreement about what you can fit in the door with power windows.
