Holy moly!! I can't believe there is another Fbody owner on here!!
We really are taking over the forum (lol)

Ya with yours being a manual, kicks are a little more of a problem, but I wouldn't rule them out entirely. I think when car toys made mine, they made them stick out more then they needed to be. I think if space is an issue, they could have been pushed back more.

The next option would be the doors, but that is also a problem because the power window motor is right behind that panel. So you will need to glass something up to push the speaker out some.

Eventually I plan on putting some midbass drivers in the door of mine, try my hand at fiberglass and try and make something that looks factory.
But that will be a long time away :( I should maybe focus on finding someone local that could swap out that V6 for me first :)

Where are you at in Washington? If you need a hand with the swap, there's a few local guys on CascadeCrew that could probably lend a hand.

As far as kicks go, I don't think it's to good of an option. I'm running 4th-gen pedals in my setup, so my clutch pedal is actually about 3/4 of an inch further left than normal. I can't rule it out in the future, but fow now I think I'll stick with dash mounts.

He's over in Puyallup and has very few posts on Cascade Crew, mostly about engine swap stuff.

If you're in need of assistance, I'd be happy to make the trip across the bridge. Also, for custom work, if you don't mind the distance, there is an install tech named Jamie Rush at Mobile Radio here in Bremerton (by Auto Center Way) who does some awesome work. He did the glass and MDF work on the enclosure I have.

For 4X6 plates in the dash, sometimes there is a clearance issue with the side window defrost ducting, more with Firebirds than Camaros. To take care of that, I've heard some carefully placed heat from a hot air gun can soften the ducting enough to reshape it to where the plate will fit. I've seen that trick in other places for different installs.

aaron_sk wrote:BTW, cargodz, did you have to trim much to fit the 8 inchers in place of the 6x9's?
Chris from Washington wrote:You'll have to trim the plastic panel some, and then make a plate out of MDF or something, to mount the 8 too, and also plug up the 6x9 hole. You'll have to be careful not to make something so thick that it pushes on your speaker cover thingy.
^That's exactly how it's done ;)
Although we built ours out a lil bit and used spray foam insulation behind it to shape sealed enclosures then just carpeted over everything... You could probably get fitment easier with the TangBang as they are smaller overall then the MA Audio 8" we used for our application ;)

Yep that be me :)

I should post over there more, I usually post on TGO the most.

I need to find someone who has a 91/92 z28 or even an RS (with a 305) that that I can use as parts car. Then I'll have the V8 700R4 and the engine, and everything under the hood that needs to be swapped out too. Plus it will have all the GFX I want too.

I'm still mad that I missed out on that 92 RS that went for $350 last month, and it was in great shape too. Guy just wouldn't wait for me to get there, and sold it :(

So now trying to find another deal like that.

Do you have an engine already? The chances of stumbling on an L98 parts car are pretty slim.

Back on topic... :p

Assuming I do go with 8 inchers for the sail panels, how much of an improvement would that be over a good quality set of 6x9's?

Nope, don't have an engine yet.
Just got the 4Runner paid off this month, so now saving up for a parts car and then start working on this car again.
Not sure how good the 8's will sound in the sail panels, cargodz will have to chime in on that, since he's done it before.

Have you thought about swapping an LT1? The L98 is a solid engine, and the bottom end pulls like hell, but it runs out of breath fast.
