So anyhow I sold the 12W6V2 in a custom ported box.

A younger guy from over Bills way buys it, comes gets it.

We hooked it up quick to a JL 500/1 just so he can see it works.

We chatted a bit about stuff. I told him about subsonic filters and how he will need one to protect the sub from unloading.

Month later I get an email stating the sub is making a popping noise. I tell him its his amp settings and I believe I told him about subsonic filters again.

Today I get another email stating he put the sub in a sealed box and it still pops. Says its not functioning as should and wants to know what Im going to do about it...

This bothers me...
Its been almost 2 months hes had it... He also left me positive feedback.

I dont like to be a dick, but I sure as hell wont be held accountable for someone elses actions...

Yep, his problem man. It was ran and hooked up properly, until he owned it.

Even in the sealed box, he probably has the settings on the amp way off I'd bet... I know you're not trying to be an ass, but sometimes you gotta tell people the way it is... If he didn't go get a subsonic filter after you told him about it =s his loss.

He says he tuned the amp and it still popped. Then put it into a sealed box and still popped...

Hey i baught this off you a little bit ago and i said there was a popping noise from the sub. you told me it was the amp needed to be tuned because of ported box. well i just had time to swap it into a sealed box and it still made poping noise. i then had it tuned and its definatly a defective sub. please let me know what you want to do, you said it is in working condition and it is definatly not in full working condition! thanks

Heres what I sent him:

Hello,

The sub was tested prior to the auction listing and was checked yet again before your arrival. The DC Resistance was within spec and with 300 WRMS the sub worked flawlessly.

I can not possibly diagnose what went wrong, but as I pointed out earlier it was probably amp settings.

I know we talked about needing a subsonic filter before you left. When you run a ported box with a higher tuning its imperative you use a subsonic filter on your amplifier. If you do not, some music will make the sub unload. In essence, the sub was played with full power in no enclosure. This kills subs!

Then her replied back to that:

I said i put it into a sealed box and it still makes same noise, the box has nothing to do with it, also i have to amp tuned for the w6, there is something wrong with sub.

I dunno... I know it worked, I tested it.

Just baffles me... Oh well i guess. He must of been satisfied he did leave positive feedback? Now 2 months later hes got issues...

did you offer a return policy on it? i always do, i say within 7 days. its not your problem. he bought it, ****ed it up, and wants his money back. I'd tell him that wal-mart may operate like that, but not me.

Heck as a dealer (not for JL, but still)... dealers abide by the policy rules and warranties of the manufacturers, and most manufacturers have something like this in place (this one taken direct from JLs site)

tell the guy to talk to JL about it.
there is clearly nothing you can and should do about.
