mounting issues
mounting issues
right now i have my two amps in the trunk next to the sub box. the box is basically holding those amps in place. they fit side by side perfectly snug to keep them from moving around. on my old ride i was able to mount the amps on the back of the seats because it was a cardboard-ish type material that i could drill into but on my new car, it is a metal backing with no solid area to mount the amps to. im not down the the 'glassin just looking for a simple mounting solution. any ideas?

sorry bout that.. its a 2005 camry SE.. this is the best pic i have on hand.. just imagine a sub with 2 amps next to it lolsolacedagony wrote:Pictures or at least what kind of car you have would be helpful.
Metal's even better to mount amps. Cardboard can rip. Bolts or securely installed self-tapping screws aren't going to come out if you get in an accident (unless it's pretty violent).

loudwagon15s wrote:sounds like a personal problem to me..... How about cutting a piece of mdf, carpeting it, then screwing it to the back of the seat, then amps on that....plus you could hide the wire underneath the mdf layer
the problem with mounting it on the metal is that its not even.. it has holes and solid pieces.. its not flat.. so i wouldnt be able to mount it because it wouldnt have any mounting area..

Is that picture of the trunk and into where your seats are folded down or is that all trunk? If it's all trunk, I think running your amps one up each side of the trunk would be neat.
Also, you could make it even by shimming with wood to the back of the MDF mount. Although I'd personally use plywood as it's lighter and structurally stronger than MDF.

that pic is looking from the backseat with the seats folded down. the bottom right is the backs of the seats.. i would like to figure out something that will also allow me to tune the amps easily when they are mounted.. maybe carpeted mdf/plywood on the inner side of the rounded part of the openings for the mounting boards?

How bout a board on each side on an angle to mount the amps so you have them in line and they can easily be adjusted
