Jszar, good point about the loans accrueing interest while you are in school.

Do everything within your power to pay the interest while you are still in school. You get it back in taxes, and after your graduate, your payments are like half what they would have been.

Depending on your state you may be able to join a technical school for free under a goverment grant.
Actually your student loans do gain interest while in college. They don't go into repayment until 6 monthes after graduation, or until you drop below full-time student status (12 credit hours or more per semester). I use Sallie Mae, excellent service and very easy. After you graduate, consolidate all your loans into one lump and you can usually get a pretty low interest rate, lower than if you just paid them one by one. You have to take out multiple loans over your school career, usually one for ever semester, or one per school year depending on your finances.

Why no grants?
there are TONS AND TONS of grants/scholarships

They just take work to fill out/complete.
I'm lazy so I just got a fafsa loan and called it a day.

i'm not eligable for any grants.. my dad (he still claims me on his taxes) apparently makes too much money (remind me why i'm paying or tuition for the summer terms and for all of the books?)

i do have a scholarship that covers me for tuition and some books for the fall & spring semesters, but it doesn't cover summer and i'm not eligable for our state's lottery-funded tuition help program because i have my scholarship

my student loan is through Plato. I would check them out. I am still paying on it though, after being out of school for over 7 years. I would have already paid it off If I didn't get married after graduation.

well my problem is that my dad apparently makes to much.. the only way around that is more than likely moving out, but i can't afford that, and a car :-p

Yeah, that sucks when you barely make to much. Happened to me last year on my taxes. I made 1200 dollars more than the cut off for earned income credit on my taxes. This year, there is no way I will be getting it, I make considerably more.

I am waiting on my w2's also so I can get my Fafsa finished. This is my last year of school, I can't wait to be done.
