my college's mainframe used punchcards :) no joke.
right up to the day I graduated in fact. I hope they've upgrades since then.

I also recall Wang and IBM computers when a 5MB (yes five megabyte) hard disk was the size of a filing cabinet on wheels and cost more than a modern car.

One pound of polly fill per every square foot of box = a 10% increase of internal volume.

So yeah he could make it a little bigger, but even then your only talking about a 2.2 cubic foot box. The .2 diffrence won't make that big of a diffrence with those speakers. The slope stayed pretty sharp till the box started to really gain in air space.

I didn't even learn how to use a computer till 10-11 years ago, they scared the hell out of me :help: cause I remember when a computer took up a whole room just to do simple math :)

Back on the subject: keep in mind that Kicker with all of their knowledge still doesn't design every box specifically for every persons liking, just a general product for the masses. I would add more polyfill myself.

yeah my first notebook was a 10MHz 8088, too. monochrome LCD, 20MB HDD, 3.5" external floppy drive.. old Toshiba T1000.

My first "portable" was an IBM PC/XT. had a built in 4" amber CRT, dual full height 5.25" floppies, no HDD, and a full AT size case with an attached keyboard that had a handle for lugging it around.
It was a beast.

Hehe, true that. My dad works for AT+T so the first system I was exposed to was a laptop (they made laptops then?) that only had DOS on it. Then he got an upgrade to Windows 3.1! Wow, it was all graphics and stuff! Hehe. He bought a system with like 8mb of RAM, 100mb harddrive and an Intel 386 in it. I started to teach myself QBasic on that thing. Then we got a 486 with Windows 95 when it came out. That was like the best thing since sliced bread.

Edit: Btw, do you still have all the formulas for this stuff on hand? That could come in handy to have laying around one day :)

well, when I was learning to do this stuff, MS Office apps were still run in DOS, so there really wasn't software for all of this.

My "dumb" ear sounds best to me

It's not a sound program. It just lets you model frequency response based on the T/S parameters of your speaker and the box type/size that you punch in.
