dont feel like buyin another amp really, thats about another 100$ and im only 16. i got other things to buy.... like drugs and alcohol... yah know? yeah i was thinkin that i would have to buy another amp, im prolly gunna have too, but i would hate to have to buy another smaller amp and just have another 165 rms channel just sitting there...

I know another set. The Focal Utopia 165W can handle 150 without a problem.

sony xplod 2-channel 1000 watt amplifier xm1652z
what 6.5 inch speakers can handle my kinda power?
There is one set that comes to mind that could handle that kinda power...
Digital Audio DAC6.5 component set 180wrms: http://www.digitalaudioinc.com/
I suppose my question is: If you plan on adding a sub, why not save the amp you have now to power it, and get a smaller amp to power the speakers?

165 rms at 2 channels.

sony xplod 2-channel 1000 watt amplifier xm1652z
and yes i know sony products are HORRIBLE, but its what i have =)

I got 2 much power... is there some kind of way to reduce the power? some kind of resistance?

right now im only running tweeters and the back speakers off the head unit and they still sound bad. ill put my ear up to each and every speaker and they sound horible. i did hook my amplifier 2 my front 2 speakers and tried not to play it too loud and they sounded way better, but when i started to turn them up they blew... which thats fine i dont want to have them sony's anyways, but i dont wanna blow up another speaker =P.

ok so amplified speakers sound fine. and if i can amplify the speakers (using 1 165 rms channel) id be fine.

now im no expert on car audio or anything, but what if i hooked up the left speaker and tweeter up in a series connection to the amplifier, and then do the same on the other side, hook it up to 1 channel.

any way(orany other way) that i would be able to do this?

if not what 6.5 inch speakers can handle my kinda power?

This is gonna sound stupid (maybe), but is that 165w x 2 Max or rms... just wondering cause if you're thinking 165w max is to much for speakers, not even close... and is that 165w @ 4ohm, 2ohm or what.
I guess basically what I'm asking is... what amp is it? Nobody has asked that yet.

No the only way you could run both is with some form of x-over, and then you would be playing diffrent freqs on both, so the power isn't split.

If you don't use a x-over your going to reduce the ohm load on the amp, and increase the power. So both would still be seeing 165 (or so)

i know 165 is a lil much for 2 6.5 inch speakers, but what if i added the tweeters? would that kinda evenly distribute and reduce the power going to the speakers? how should i go about wiring this? just hook them all strait to one channel? (kinda looking to get a sub later so trying to save that channel 4 the sub.)

If your going to get new speakers for the front, get a set of components and run them off the amp.

I would totaly remove the rears, but if you really really want them then, the deck would do fine to push them.

alright you think this solve this problem,

running like maybe the tweeters and 6.5 in speakers in the front. (4 speakers) off of 1 165 watt channel?and running just the back off the head unit? im gunna have to get new front speakers anywayz...

and all the speakers are stock speakers, (besides the 2 in the kicker panels that i replaced)

I have to agree with Ryan, your running into phasing issues. It could be from a speaker wired wrong, or it could be from running to many speakers with each at a diffrent distance fom your head.

Oh and, do your radio a favor, cut back on the speakers before the internal amp goes up in smoke.
