the sub can handle 800 watts continuous, 1600 watts in bursts.
that's a thermal rating. think of it as a measure in heat before the coils are damaged.
if you have an 800 watt RMS amp, you'll likely never give the sub a full 800 watts anyway since you're using a reactive load, and a dynamic source, so your actual power to the subs will be a small fraction of that 800 watts, even when it's audibly extremely loud.

If you have an 800 watt amp it will be fine with the SE.

its an advanced subject that unless you plan on getting deep into car audio u dont really need to worry about it. check the FAQ about sub rms ratings. trust me you will be fine.

impedance rise is when your load/resistance changes because of things like your box/freq and many other things. it changes the load as those factors change.

impedance rise? could u explain please.

how much would they be getting?

by Bwcad1 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 12:42 pm

they will be fine as long as your not reatarded with the volume and gain. your impedance rise will take away some power so they wont be seeing 800rms anyways.

Any one else?

Personally, I feel the more power the better.

Thanks.

The amp I plan to use has two sets of terminals by the look of it: http://dynamicautosound.net/ebayimg/HIF ... 06DPWR.jpg

One last thing, I would be running 800wrms to each sub. RE SE is 600wrms but people say it handles more.

Whats your honest opinion about running this much power to them?

by GlassWolf » Sun Nov 05, 2006 9:49 am

yes power is evenly split, and most mono amps have two sets of terminals (wired together internally) to simplify wiring.
just wire one speaker to each set of terminals, or if you really prefer, do it as you suggested and wire both together with one set of terminals at the amp.

yes power will be equally distributed

Hi guys,

I'm looking to power 2 RE SE 12" dual 4ohm by 1 class D mono amp.

I've looked at wiring diagrams (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161) and I can wired them series/parallel or parallel/parallel. The frist would be 4ohm load and second 1ohm (I'd go for second to save money on the amp).

The subs are rated 600wrms each, so really I should look for an amp capable of 1200wrms at 1ohm. Then the 1200wrms would be divided in two, thus 600wrms to each sub, yes?

Also with the wiring, there will be 2 wires (+ an -) coming out of each sub, do i just connected the two + to the + terminal of the amp and likewise for the -?? This diagram (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/graphics/Supp ... llel_2.gif) shows them linked with dots, do I need some sort of block or just run the wires straight to the terminals???

Will the power be distributed 50/50 to each sub??

Sorry for what probably seems an obvious question :(
