you could look into Visonik, MA Audio, Quantum, and maybe get on Ebay and you might be able to score a JBL 600.1 or 300.1 for cheap..

Another to look into is SPL, they are made by Power Acoustik and we have had a lot of great luck with them.

that a1000db is a solid amp. the gothic series are actually really nice.

I would go with the Power Acoustik before the Profile, but that's because I've had better luck with Power Acoustik.

You might want to check out the For Sale section too. There is usually some pretty good deals that run through there.

yeah, i plan on gettin a 15'' comp vr and i have a tight budget. i was just tryin to find a good amp that puts out 500w RMS. the eclipse xa1000 was my choice but it's about $80-100 more

by Bwcad1 » Thu Aug 31, 2006 11:25 am

yea your right dave i was thinking it was 1 ohm stable. the gothic amps are insane. i know a few guys strapping a pair of the 3000s at 18vs and getting over 6kw's

by Scarrell » Thu Aug 31, 2006 11:11 am

yeah, i have the PA Ov2-400 2 channel amp, well its in the house, it got replaced by my jbl 180.2, but it did alright for the job, id only use it to power speakers/components though.. it never gave me any problems, although it did get hot, but that was after an hour or so at moderate high volumes.

Actually the 1000 prolly does approx. 400 Bill...seeing as it's rated for [email protected] that is.

Even if it does do an actual 500W RMS or more..that doesnt necessarily make it a great amp...trust me build quality is not high with those profile amps...you can tell just by lookin at them..however, it never gave me problems..just make sure you play the amp somewhat within its limits or you can't expect it to last you too long for $100.

Bill I also agree with you on Power Acoustik amps....i've known so many damn people that had those Gothik series amps and not one of them had a problem with them. They also got some decently high powered strappable amps for the "competitor on a budget" haha. They have been benched at damn near their rated power I believe and for the price you really can't beat em.
