Well, triads are the core of chords. Intervals just show you what tensions you're putting together FOR the chord.

Yea, my band plays stuff like Dream Theater. Haven't gotten anything recorded yet because we're looking for a singer and keyboardist and can't seem to find a single one at all around here. Hot commodities they are.

Played Metropolis today with my drummer for the first time and we almost got through it. Had to stop once or twice because we got lost in the jumble of changing parts at the end. Between the time signatures and the 9 minutes of shredding, it's rough. hehe

[quote="solacedagony"]The sweeps in Glass Prison are ridiculous.
Anyway, I used to play trumpet in the school band. That's what made me end up playing guitar because I ended up quitting school band cause the director made it so immensely boring and not fun.
I learned a lot of the theory stuff like intervals, scale theory, modes, etc. but I'm having trouble with the chords. Can't really play chords on sax or trumpet unless you have enough guys to do it ]
If you know intervals there's really not much else you need to know. Intervals are like the core of chords...for guitar at least.

Wow, you know she is!

I can play Overture 1912 (That song is so fun to play), Erotomania, most of Take the Time, and I'm up to the end of Metropolis pt1. Rush is awesome too. My drummer used to play with a bar type band and they covered Limelight so we jam on that sometimes.

I have some stuff up on my myspace and purevolume if you're really bored. Most of it is stuff I was just experimenting with.
