well lets see here, that box is goingto cost u a lil more than what it would cost to make a box that is perfect for it out of MDF... Personally i think you should forget about the glitz and glam of a neon in the box, you want people to hear your sound not be amazed by the pretty colors of the box. Think about Audiobahns, thats all that those subs are, they are just chromed out to look good but they perform like crap... My suggestion is if you are going to throw some neons in your trunk go with some pointed LED's or small neon bars mounted above each sub or 1 in the middle of the 2 subs and you will be golden... or if u really think u can get creative throw a couple LED's inside the Slot port or Neon tube and it will look like the box is eminating light... OOOh lol

sounds nice execpt the tweeters that doesnt make sense. what did he power them with?

by spec_ops57 » Tue Jun 27, 2006 6:17 am

no, not prefab. those really do sound horrible, even to someone like me. My friend just built a really nice dual box, with a plexiglass partition in the middle of the two subs, and ran 1 neon across the back, and put some tweeters in the glass.

so your going prefab? ick. and those boxes suck much ass they sound horrible

by spec_ops57 » Tue Jun 27, 2006 6:13 am

that's pretty nice, but I like the look of the carpeted MDF with plexiglass look

Here is Scarells design for 1 Alpine R

by CaptainPioneer » Mon Jun 26, 2006 11:09 am

ok well this is what i would do... first off is space an issue in your car? If not PM Scarrell about his box design for his Alpine's, he has a nasty looking box for it... i think you can have it ported and tuned to i think 35hz or something like that for the 2 of them and you will hit generously over 145db... Just get an amp that can put about 600w - 1000w to each sub... so check into Hifonics line you can definitely afford that, and you can probably order the amp off of Bwcad... I think he deals with it... I will PM both of them about it for you so that you dont have to do a lot of Leg work.

yeah, I meant alpines... I was thinking of my deck being a pioneer. I've got about $600 to spend on an amp, and depending on how much I have left after amp and subs, I think I'm going to get my friend to build me a new box, and put some neon in the trunk and box

by CaptainPioneer » Mon Jun 26, 2006 10:53 am

how much are you looking to spend on the Amp?

by CaptainPioneer » Mon Jun 26, 2006 10:52 am

U mean Alpine Type r's i would assume... IF you were to get a Mono amp... make sure that it is 1 ohm stable because that is the load that you will be running those subs at, most common application for those subs would be the 4x 4 ohm version SWR-1242D i believe, if you were to wire them in a Paralell each sub would present a 2 ohm load to the amp which then results in a 1 ohm load total... Or if you wired them in a series, each sub would present an 8 ohm load to the amp but a 4ohm load total. IMO I would wire in a Parallel and get a either a 2ch or Monoblock that is 1 ohm stable...
