I just wanted to tease bill a little.. gota admit that was some awful spelling though! hehe I figured he was tired of drunk.. wasn't sure which :P
The speed limits aren't only a matter of the car's abilities, but also the road conditions. While the autobahn for example, has 26" thick asphault that is highly maintained and built from the start for high speeds, with long shallow sweeps, and no sharper bends at the high speed areas, US roads are 12" of asphault, and holes are randomly patched as people complain. Not highly maintained. Road condition has a lot to do with limiting vehicle speed, as does differential speed. Trucks going slower and being hit by fast moving smaller cars will cause a lot of damage, too. Speed doesn't kill as much as differential speed does.
This is one reason I've always opposed separate speed limits for trucks and passenger vehicles.
