If we ever have a meet, it's going to turn into an Iron Chef competition...

if you could mount a cast iron griddle directly to the amp, and fry some bacon, I think that would surpass the trunk glassed waffle iron!!! I forget which one of you guys have that, but you gotta admit that would be cool!! "Hey listen to MY stereo, and lets fry some bacon and eggs while we're doing it!"

Did you stick a thermometer on it, or do it the traditional way that audio guys do and count how many seconds you can hold your hand on there? :p

Make sure the amp has a proper load on it, and that the gains are set correctly. Other than that, amps do get very hot as mentioned above.

so if i wire each sub at 2 ohms and bridge them, will they become 4 ohm?

by Darthness » Sat Apr 15, 2006 7:30 am

my jl e1200 got pretty hot itself :)

but seriously try to cook a peice of bacon on it... :P

Amps get hot man, especially if they are class A/B amps. I had an ARC Audio amp that I had playing for about an hour or so. I touched it accidently and it burnt my hand, still have the burn mark from it. Class A/B amps can easily get to 175 degrees+

ohh ok, so i can just wire the subs 4 ohm and the amp shouldn't get that hot?

on white or wheat

toasted white please and yes 4 ohms will keep it cooler

Does that mean I will have the same ploblem when I use my ppi amp bridged to a RE SE? (4ohm DVC)
yes it does
