thats what i read b4 i got mine so i grounded the metal case to my chassis b4 doing any other wiring

my 880prs is a refurb as well
A lot of the units have bad internal grounds, creating high resistance and melting the soldier point and eventually failing. This isnt specifically the prs but many other pioneers.

Yea some of them are fine but the 3 we have had the pleasure of dealing with all had noise issues. Even with the processor. I wonder y it was a refurb? :awesome:

Its kinda sad they have always been my go to brand for hu's but after the last 2 years of seeing the shit head units they have put out I'm done with them. Every time someone comes to use with a noise problem we ask if they have a pioneer radio.

I stick to panasonic alpine and kenwood.

My Pioneer from 5 years ago was awesome, and performed flawlessly until I was working on my car with the battery still attached and grounded out on the HU...

Bill I agree though in the last 2-3 years their line up has become more about "flash" and looks than reliability...

I think Kenwoods have come a long way in the last 8-10 years as well... I remember them being very unreliable back 5-6 years ago and now they are great... Same with Panasonic as well.

I think in retrospect, I wish that I could have saved my $$ and purchased a 880PRS back in the day... I also wish that I could of had the older Clarion touch face head unit that was all crazy looking... I always liked those things... too expensive though...

I'd say go with the Clarion right now since you have the selectable colors and the options you want.. They are also pretty easy to navigate their controls, as well as preset menus.

Give a look at least you might be surprized.

I havent used a Clarion since 1999

Ive been a JVC man since then, except for the 880PRS.
