thats what i thought see i had this same issue with a cheaper amp i had and i had to reset everything and since since i sold my old set up to my brother he's had no issue whatsoever so im thinking the gain or the amp just isnt in a good place to get the air to help cool it or both

cool so i can just un hook the speaker wire from the amp and hook my meter on those wires and it will tell me if i have a fried coil sweetya last time i un hooked the sub from the box and tested and man was that a pain in the ass :thumbsup

Yes and yes

But there is a better way. Disconnect the amp and connect an ohm meter to the wires that would normally connect to the amp. Now go back and slowly move the sub. Its should go from your DC impedance and rise gradually. If it does something screwy (goes to open or zero ohms you have a problem)

Yeah I knew there was a better way. I hate to admit I've done that, but at the time it was my only test as I didnt have my meter with me. I think this question was asked, but for clarification you are talking about the sub wires right??

If the gains set about half way I dont think thats the problem.

How hot does the amp feel when it starts cutting out? If its hot, then you can guess its a thermal issue. Could be you have your subs wired to low...

sounds like you have your gain set too high, try turning it down some and see how it works then.

I had this issue before with a cheap amo the gain may be set to high and its going into protect mode or its just over heating, weera it located? Is it able to stay cool?

I had the same problem, try this when the music stops go back and apply gentle pressure on the cone of the sub, as I said gentle pressure barely pushing it in and see if the music comes back on. I had it happen and it was bad coil(s). Try it and see.

Try not to flame me for this method as I know it is not the best way but it worked for me.
