Yup Castrol for me too and usually Fram filters.

I use whatever oil is on sale and i use a K&N oil filter just because it has a nut on the end and my truck is impossible to get a filter wrench on without taking the air intake off and going in from the top.My wifes suburban gets whatever filter is on sale usually a purolator. Bikes get Klotz full synthetic and fram filters.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and switch off between the Mobil 1 or Purolator oil filter in the 4Runner.

I also switched to one of those Tru-Flow air filters last spring. Gas milage went up just a tad after the switch.

Yeah, I did the same experiment with the same results. Though, I have heard it does not always work. I too change my oil religously with a good filter and a good synthetic oil. What brand of oil and filter do you guys perfer? I'm just wondering I like Castrol synthetic and WIX/NAPA Gold filter.

Actually it's kinda funny, cause yeah I treat my car right by giving it full synthetic oil changes, but I found that I get better in town mileage when I put in 89 (plus) octane over 87 (regular)... and it's a big difference (3-4 MPG), so what I pay at the pump may seem like more, but I get a lil further on it, so it equals out ;)

That is great for in town MPG, the 3.8L is a very good engine though. My question is how many miles have you had the car, and from previous posts I believe you to be someone as meticulous about maintenance as I am. Not only will your car last longer, but it will have better MPG if you just do the basics everyone should be able to do.

I do the math every time I go to the pump with the Monte... Almost all in town driving and still get an average of 20-22 MPG... Not to bad for a 3.8ltr with over 100K miles on it.
