I see that you have Rockford Fosgate older models under the Highly Recommended section. I currently have 2 Audiobahn special edtions. I don't think they sound to well. But to my question what about the newer models like the punch stage 3 is it any good...But how bout the power stages but they are out of my price range. Please any advice is usefull to me

IMO rockfords have crappy sound quality. I owned a set of punch hx2's about 3 years ago and did not like how they sounded at all. What kind of price range do u have so we can help you out?

EDIT: Also what kind of set up are you looking for? SQ, SQL, SPL?

with speakers, in the end it comes down to your ears most times.
construction quality is one factor, but it also depends on how the speakers sound to you.
If you audition them and like how they sound, then those are the speakers for you.
the FAQ guide is just a very general set of guidelines based on build quality. There are always exceptions and there's always room for revision.

There are tons of options for the budget you have. Are you going for SQ(sound quality), SPL(Sound Pressure Level..LOUDNESS) or an SQL setup, which as a mixture of both SQ and SPL. For most daily drivers an SQL setup is common, however it depends on what time of music you listen to and what *you* want out of it.

For heavy metal and rap, a nice ported enclosure should do the trick depending on which subs you go with. Some subs aren't ideal for ported use, however many are. I'll go ahead and throw out some options:

Resonant Engineering RE or SE series
Ascendant Audio Atlas
Kicker CVR (05' Model)
Alpine Type R

If you are considering an Alpine Type R 12" Subwoofer i'd take a look at some other alternatives also. Alpine makes a nice subwoofer, they are great for sound quality while still keep that 'bump' that we all are striving for in our systems.
Price wise Alpine Type R 12" Subwoofers aren't all that bad either.

Yesterday i was over at my friends house in his 2002 Toyota Supra and he had two setups. 1 was 2 12" Alpine Type r Subwoofers in a ported box built to the high end of the recomended specs, and the other setup was 2 JL W3 12" subwoofers also built to the high end of recomended specs. Both were powered to about 50 watts over RMS.

Once i listened to both sets of subwoofers i found the JL W3's to sound nicer, hit smoother, and hit louder.

Price wise the two subwoofers seem to be about the same.

With that said if you are questioning Alpine Type R's look into some JL W3's also.

In the end though it is You, not I who decides what is better fit for your sound demands.
