Well guy's im giving some of you peeps an update on my life,if you care... lol.... As some of you know i have been struggling to find a job for the past year, with lack of experience and the economy being T-total Sh*t i cant seem to find one.... And as some of you know I have been struggling with Bi-polar all of my life. So my mother decided to try to sign me up for social security, i hated the idea at first... living off the government and other people's money.... But i soon came to realize that it wasn't a bad idea because i would get insurance so we wouldn't have to pay 1,500$ a month for my meds.... And on top of that they have a program called "the ticket to work program" which will help you find a job and give you training and references....

The SS office called me a couple of days ago and said that it's not set in stone quite yet, because it has to be approved by the boards... But I am receiving benefits right now.... so I am praying they don't deny me.... They haven't yet but no one can be sure....

After its all said and done im going to try to get them to help me find a job *if i get SSI* and go to school in the fall.... And after im done with school hopefullyu i can find a job with benefits.....

sry it was so long

Sorry to hear that it's still that bad out there for you... And thought I'd point out... Not to make you upset or anything, but almost always SS turns everyone down the first time... So if it happens don't get upset.
You may however be able to still talk with them about the ticket to work program as it's set up to get people back into working society and away from social security as a means... so keep your head up ;)

Good luck on the school program and training.

Given your situation I would suggest seeking factory work as a machine operator. Some of these jobs can be rather easy. Most jobs come with a benefit package to help offset the low wages. Most factory work like this usually starts about $9-10 Hr in my area. More experienced and seasoned workers make about $14/15 on the high side. Not glamorous by any means but its money.

Hey as a little bit of sunshine, my brother was turned down the first time, and maybe even a second time. However when he did get approved they payed him a nice chunk of "backpay" up to like a year and a half ago. I hope this helps a little. Where are you from?? You may could get some state assistance as well.

Here in KY, the area we live in gives assistance in finding jobs, paying bills, education.

Dude don't feel bad at all for what you have to do, that is what the government help is for.

I'll keep you in my prayers, just hang in there.

Edit: we do care a lot

The whole SSI thing is a joke...

99% of the time you get rejected at first. Actually, alot of the time you end up having to get a lawyer. The reason they do this, so I'm told, is to weed through as many people as possible whom may not really need it. Once they say ok, youre disabled, they pretty much are saying we're going to help you for life...

My brother n law has seizures, cant drive, bathe by himself, be left alone for more than a few minutes... He's literally like a little kid, but they rejected him... He's going to have to get a lawyer..

See that is what pisses me off about the whole govment thing. People that really do need it ( like your brother n law and kornyfr33k), have to get lawyers and suffer until it comes through. But the people who know how to work the system get it first time no problem. Our govment is so friggin backwards. I could really get started on this but I'm not going to.

I just hate so bad to see good people who honest to God need the help not get it. I gotta stop....or I will get wound up.

At any rate I'm on yalls side
good luck,

Tim
