My laptop only has a 60 gig hard drive on it, and i had basically no room left on it, so i decided to go the cost-effective way and get an external hard drive for all of my media. http://www.simpletech.com/parts/spu35320.htm However, i cant figure out how to put all my music on it, and have it appear on itunes when i open it. If i import the music to itunes, it just goes back to the computer's hard drive. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

in your itunes settings, you should be able to set what directory it saves the music in. for my settings, once i import music, wherever it is on any hard drive, it automatically sorts it and puts it on my external drive. then i delete the original data, because itunes has copied it to my external drive.
goto edit > preferences > advanced > general. at the top you will see a place to specify a directory to where itunes saves you music. and whether or not you want itunes to copy the music to the directory (yes) and if you want itunes to organize the files (it will rename the main directory to artist, sub directory to album and file name to song title, and track number)

to avoid problems, dont attempt to play any music or movies without your external drive connected. you'll have to import ALL your media again.

i hope this helps!!
