i have taken a liking to laptops due to the fact they are eaier to use in a car than a typical desktop computer. much lighter to lug around too.....anyway i recently went through 4 hp products before taking it back and telling them where they could stick it, due to the problems id been having and the fact that my same as cash period wasnt up yet i was able to return it, then i went somewhere else and got a dell inspiron and am much happier.....this one doesnt suck nearly as much and a big plus for me is that it is smaller. weighs less and is faster......

I got my wife a Sony Vaio for Christmas at Office Depot. They had a good deal on it at like 150.00 mail in rebate. A guy I work with has a Inspirion and he likes it.

Laptops are the bomb fo sho. And it makes ya look all professional too. :)

shoot, youve met me, there isnt a laptop in the world that could make me look professional. i really want a mac book but i cant justify it, plus it would get really dirty if i had it. the compaq evo and compaq presario i had were junk. i had one before any of the compaqs that was called a twinhead, it was priced right and it was a fantastic paperweight. the one i got now so far kicks ass.....im sure there are computer dweebs out there that will find fault with any computer they didnt build under the flourescent glow of their star trek desk lamp but im not a computer guy and as long as it loads like 3 web sites and does the business related stuff i need it to do im happy.

I just got a Dell Vostro 1500 a few weeks ago. I like it. The screen is very nice, but a tad reflective lol.

Hey man, as long as it does thats all that matters! :happy055:

I thought about them fairly small $500 ones. Trouble was they were just to small (capacity wise) and Ive decided to play some games... So...

Sounds like a wise investment for a person in your situation (needing portability).

Mac Books are the way to go... they do have a black version if you were trying to keep it clean or you can use a plastic shield film that has been created that will pretty much keep it cleaner than anything else

It's good. I like it. I had found a coupon for $300 off of it which was the main factor... well that and being able to get XP with it instead of Vista :D

I think the worst thing is that it gets fingerprints on it pretty easy. I got the all black one. Battery life with the biggest battery (90whr) is just over 4 hours.

If anyone here gets one, I highly recommend getting the best screen and largest battery.

I bought a Macbook summer of 06 (my first Mac) and I could never buy a computer with windows again.

It's such a great feeling to operate your computer and know nothing is going to go wrong.

Even if a program freezes (which is a rare occasion), none of them are linked so you just close that program and reopen it. You're golden.

I've never had to restart my computer other than when installing a new program or update. But honest to god, never had to deal with that BS.

And the thing I will never miss? ALT CTRL DEL....the 3 finger salute.

Not to mention the fact that you can't get a virus. It's so nice to not have to worry about spyware, running scans and checks, downloading anything without worrying.

And she's still running like a champ, nearly 2 years later. I bought it for $1600 and got an Ipod Nano with it, and had the memory upgraded and got 160gig.

That being said I do know it's possible to run a windows without problems, by taking proper care and measures, but in my opinion, its far too much work, and something you SHOULDN'T have to take care of yourself, when you are paying hundreds upon hundreds of dollars.
