First Ill say hey, and say that this site has alot of great info...
I have a couple of questions about what to do about my new truck.
First here are my goals and some ideas I have. And would love some feed back.
My truck is a 2007 dodge ram quadcab.
I would like to keep the stock head unit but run my RF 360.6. And sq is my deal more than big boom.
I was thinking of getting some kind of line driver that has speaker level inputs, IE audio controll, jl cleansweep or kicker 9 band eq. I know the audio control and jl are better sq than the kicker, but i like the idea of having fade and sub control at my finger tips.
For now I will be running either stock or some Rf speakers I allready have. Better components will come as the budget allows.
And I will be building my own sub box inplace of the center seat cushion.
Any sudgestions would be greatly appritiated.
Also a little bit about me, I installed at Autosound in Palatine Il. for a few years in the early 90's, so I do have a little background but have been out of the seen for awhile.

You definatly found the right site jay. We have some top notch SQ and SPL guys here.
I noticed your considering running rear speakers. Do you plan on running them as mid bass, or full range?
If your just doing it to add some mid bass then you don't really need the fader control. If your planing on running full range, then I would sugest you drop the rears completly. With the cab set up like it is, then will pull your sound stage back, and can cause some pretty crazy phasing issues.
Honestly most of the SQ guys on here don't bother running rears. We spend the extra money on a better componet set, and amp to run them.

Yea I was planning on running rears. Mostly for rear passengers. Thou I was going to run 8ohm, or bridge 4 of the channels to 2 for the fronts. Basically making my amp a 4 channel with the rear being half the power.
I haven't thought of that thou. Thanks. That would help the budget.

For a budget SQ system, I would go with a HU that has EQ, an active 2-way xover, T/A, some raw drivers for a 2-way and call it a day. Of course you wanting to keep the stock HU complicates things.
Is the RF 360.6 an amp or did you mean the 360.2?

I'd go with a cleansweep to an amp for some kick pod components, then add another amp and the sub(s) after that.

yea the 360.6 is a 6 channel amp. its a mid 90's Rockford amp. I may be adding a sub amp If I can find a same era R.F..
I think I found a audiocontrol system that will work but I have to do a little studying on it.

Yeah the audio control is a good peice, but so is the clean sweep. The only bad thing I have heard about the JL is the output voltage isn't what they claim it to be. So you need a good line driver if you plan on running an EQ (especially and audio control peice) before your amps.
Yeah if you bridge the fronts, or run them at 2 ohms it will help. but your still going to loose a little SQ if they rears play above 500 herts. Below 500 your ears reply on the time the sound wave arives to figure were the sound is comming from. So a little tweaking with TA can make up for it. Above 500 volume becomes more important. Basically if you can make out the sound behind you, its going to move the sound stage towards the rear.
As for people riding in the rear, it really won't sound that bad. I have an accord coupe, and have sat in the back and listened. Its really not as bad as most people would think. Sure the sound is obviously comming from in front of you, but is that really a bad thing?

You know after I said that I gave it some thought . Really 90% of the time I am driving alone so I guess having rears wont matter. I have a set of 6.5 8ohm mid bass drivers I may run in back. The only problam is the amp has a hi pass cross over for those channels at 80hertz. But does that mean I need to cap them so I dont get any highs from those? Sorry for all the dumb questions Its just been a while so my memory is hazy....
