Components 6.5" w/ 2.25" depth

Post by jjohan35 »

Hi folks,

My friend's Honda Prelude '99 has slim door mounts. He wants good quality components ($200-$250) 6.5" that are under 2 1/4" top mounting depth. I can't think of anything except CDT's slim components. He needs 70-100 rms per channel. You guys have any suggestions? Thanks.

i installed a set of shallow mount comps for a buddy of mine, its a set of Directed CSX650's, can be had for fairly cheap, they are being powered off of his Premier 860 HU and do not sound half bad.. i cant find any Good specs online about them, and we didnt keep the box at my house, but what i did find is this:

Size (in)
6.5
Description
2-Way Component Speakers
RMS/Peak (W)
50/100
Sensitivity (dB)
90
Magnet Size (oz)
1.2
Mounting Depth (in)
1.87

here are some pics of them before we put them in the doors:

if you do need any info, i can go by his house and get the manual and all that..

Unfortunately he just bought an amp that runs 75 w rms per channel. That might be too much for your suggested speakers. Thanks for the input though.

Just a thought that you may wanna run past him... If you or he makes a 3/4" thick MDF speaker ring it would add a lot more mounting depth and would open up his options a lot ;)

We thought about doing that, but that would press the speakers right up against the stock grills. It's pretty lame. The Hondas from the 90's are not easy to install.

Man I think his only options are the following:

Polk db6501

CDT EF61NEO

What do you guys think?
