More Power to Front Speakers?

Hi folks,

I have the Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4. It's 75 watts RMS x 4 ch. I want to know if there's any way I can deliver more than 75 RMS to the front speakers. Is it possible? I don't have rear speakers to worry about. I thought about bridging the setup somehow but my amp will lose its stereo.

Or changing the amp is my only option?

When dealing with a 4 channel amp you can bridge it and still maintain stereo. It all in how you connect the RCAs to it ;)

I understand now. Thanks for that info. I looked at the instruction sheet for my amp. Bridged at 4ohms, it'll be 300 rms x 2 ch. Unfortunately I can't think of any set of speakers within my budget that can handle that much power!

You could run that amp bridged to a set of speakers.... you just have to be careful and know what you are doing. Are you already running this amplifier to a set of speakers?? If not, i would first fun it at 75 watts x 2 because even 75 watts to a set of speakers can get pretty loud. If you indeed need louder, you will need to know the limits of your speakers. You will have to know how high of volume you can go before your speakers start getting too much power.

^ True... 75watts RMS is pretty loud for fronts, but as always some people want more... as for bridging, you don't have to use the full 300wrms x 2, you can just adjust accordingly for the amount required using a dmm...
Not sure how? Check it out here:http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7686

I'm still shopping for speakers. I can't seem to find Morel dealers anywhere local to listen in the shop.

A lot of the speakers I'm interested in are 120 or 150 rms, which was why I was interested in getting more power than 75 rms.

It never hurts to have extra power up front where it really counts. Remember that you get transients which can require 10x as much power, depending on the crest factor. So if you're running 3w average power to your speaker, there are very short moments where your amp may need to be able to put out 30w.

Are you planning on running a component set or are you going with a coax?

Hi. I sorta don't understand the first part of your post lol. I'm planning a component set with passive crossovers, tweeters, and woofers.
