Which would be better to power 2 15" HD3 dual 2 ohms? The MM4000.1 is refurbished and half the price and the MD3's are the 07 models and brand new

I guess you say the MM4000.1 but the 2 MD3's would give me more power and are also strappable so I would only have to tune the master amp.

when you strap amps you still have to tune them both, you just tune them together, its kinda weird though

what's the power difference? does it even matter? +3 db for every doubling of power ... 1-2-4-8-16-32-64-128-256-512-1024-2048-4096-8192. If you buy any amp putting out anything in the vacinity of 4k watts, you're not going to notice a difference from one to the next anyway. down to 2k is a loss of 3 db and up to 8k is a gain of 3db. you can do the math to figure out whether the difference in amps is worth it to you.
I'm not Bill, I can only hope to be like him one day. I have to stop in the 500-1k vicinity. Too much more than that and it's just not worth it to me.

Well I guess it's time for me to step into this one... As both an Autotek and US Amps dealer...
Let's do some simple math shall we
US Amps MD3 2000watts @ 1 ohm x2 = 4000 watts
Autotek MM4000.1D 4000watts @ 2 ohm
Not that hard to figure out by my book :)

apparently it is because the autotek is 4000x1 @ 2ohm
What coils are on your HD3
