i wanted to add a 12 volt computer cooling fan to an amp of mine cuz it gets hot its in a well ventilated area but it gets really hot. i was wondering whats the proper way to do this. is it safe to use the remote switch and ground or what. i also have a unused liquid cooling kit for a computer and was wondering if i could use this or if anyone on here has.
or maybe a peltier
also are there any mods to make a 4 ohm stable bridged amp 2 ohm stable im not running at 2 ohms but itd be cool if this was possible.

for the fan use a relay and id stay away from liquid cooling. ppi tried it years ago but it didnt take off to well.

True ^^ But also those liquid cooling kits for Computers arnt that bad, but a really good one has a lot of components to it... Im not quite sure how you would house all of that... If its done correctly, I have seen some great computers that have liquid cooling kits on them, so im sure that you could do that on an amp, but in my mind i think Smokers suggestion is valid and is your best option

Relay with the fan like smoker suggested... don't think I'd be brave enough to try the liquid cooling, that might be something better tested with an old junky amp that works that you get for free rather than one that you're using daily.

ive used liquid cooling on several of my computers the spare kit i have is a kingwin awc-1 it seemed to work well on an over clocked amd 3200+ keeping the temp at 32 degrees Celsius under normal conditions and 42 under heavy cpu load. its a fairly simple unit has the pump water block then radiator with an extra fan i mounted on it. i was planning on using this old amp i have to test i was just wondering if anyone else has tried this as im not sure where to mount the water block
also would it be better to make an exhaust fan or have fans mounted to the heat sinks running air over them?
phase change cooling would be cool to try but really expensive.

no ideas on the 4ohm to 2 ohm mod
im sure i could do it if anyone has any schematics or knows which parts need to be upgraded thatd be cool

yeah they do when i first got it i didnt even use it cuz it ran so hot it actually warmed up my computer room. the temp dropped dramatically when i first installed this cooler so i decided to try to overclock it i couldnt do it with the first board it was in unless i upped the fsb couldnt change the multipliers. then i read more and i found out these cpus are multiplier locked but when i put it in this asus board i have 11.5x 12x and 13x have become usable

I agree with the others, use a relay...
The same goes for amps, if you're running more than 2 amps, use a relay... :happy055:
