also...is it even legal to comfiscate and destroy someones personal property? i mean i can see comfiscating the stuff and making them pay to get it back...but destroying it? sounds illegal to me.

That's actually really stupid to smash it. He lost income his department could have earned. Police have auctions to make money off all of the confiscated goods.

If that were to ever happen on a first violation, I'd sue the crap out of that department. I'd most probably win too; I am on very good terms with a judge here :) .

i'm up for the trip next week.....i'll have the new alt in and my xtr 1400.2 on the sx 15 so lets go....and they can only take my stereo if they can pry it out of my cold dead hands......i'd like to see them take someone's 1000+ $$ stereo and smash it.....they'd have a lawsuit within hours....sad that so many people have to ruin it for the rest.....city next to mine has an ordinance of 50ft....starting ticket is 100 bucks....75 more each offense....i've been pulled over once for it.....then i stole the sign near the area i was pulled over at....they have replaced almost all of the signs so far because they are either being stolen.....vandalized beyond reading....or just plain bent up.....its not so much the ordinance that bothers us.....its the cops....they are complete ass's around here and continually pull over teenagers like its a sport....i've seen maybe 10-20 persons over the age of 30 pulled over by them.....while more than 100 of them have been around 16-25 yrs of age....their other problem is racial profiling....they have a tendency to pull over african americans too....but now they have cross jurisdiction into my town.....no sound ordinance here....so i sit at the light and shake the officers camera just for giving me a dirty look when i waved at him.....i was being polite had the stereo down to a very very low boom....barely audible from car to car especially inside and windows up.....waved at him and he gives me this look like i need to die....so i start turning knobs and piss him off royally....

that was prolly pretty dumb to taunt that cop. just wait until your town adopts the noise ordinance and he will be hunting you. anyways its always smart to keep everything turned down while in towns or residential areas so $h!t like Jszar posted doesnt happen.
