Sounds like a Tinsel lead slap but could be a misaligned Voice Coil...

The sub has Interwoven Tinsels into the spider... Everything looks fine on the surface of the spider, but i can hear the slapping when its playing at any volume... sounds like it could be a tinsel lead slap, but at the same time it sounds to metalic to be one... Unless the tinsel lead is hitting the Motor of the VC...
One other person who i know has a Bramah and he thought that his motor was misalligned but found out that it was a tinsel lead problem.... Im hoping that it is just the tinsel lead... I did realize that when i pressed in on the sprider a lil bit that the sound of the tapping decreased a bit... Any way... It sounds great in that ported box i made and it really hits hard. Its just that annoying tapping... I know its not clipping the amp either.
Anyway... give me some feedback on that...

misaligned VC if the tinsel is woven it has to be the coil.

yea but at the same time im wondering Bill if there is the remote chance that the tinsel lead is just a bit longer under the Spider where it is conneced to the vc...
Im gonna take a look at it in a lil bit... Ill let u know if i see anythign irregular...
btw how much does it cost to fix a misaligned VC"?

take a pic of the spider for me. if the woofer is reconable its vary s by manufacture. if its not then you might as well throw it away

pace a small piece of masking tape over the tinsel leads (taping the strip of tape face to face with itself) so the leads are covered by the tape, and play the sub at low to moderate volume. see if you hear any change in the 'slap'

i sold him the sub, and i had No problems like this whenever i had it, and i packaged the sub Very well.. take it out and see if there are any dents or something along them lines on it, the only thing that was wrong with it when i sent it was some scratches on the magnet, if the vc is out of allignment then ups must have dropped it or something.

Thats always possible.
The magnet could of got jolted in transit just enough it rubs on the VC...
Insurance I hope? Also I hope you have the packaging you received it in.

yea its got a small scuff on the basket... But he's right, it was packaged just as good if not better than the sub i sent out. I mean its wierd the sub actually sounds fine its just that tapping that is bad thats all... Ive tried everything... Im thinking i might just seal the box up cause when i stuck my arm in the port I really couldnt hear the clicking all too bad...
