2007 Suburban Factory Nav Questions

How can get the nav system to accept inputs while I'm driving? Right now if I'm going over 15 MPH it won't let me input POIs or addresses.

stop driving it wont let you put inputs in unless your stopped or going very slow for safety.

all newer navs will do that, im pretty sure.
and there is no way around it.

Sorry, that one there is a safety issue that has been mandated by federal law for oem equipment and cannot be bypassed.

The 2007-2008 Mitsubishi NAV systems allow you to input while driving? If it was mandated by federal law, they could not.
There is always a way to bypass it, just like in the DVD players that won't show the picture while driving, but you see it all the time, people playing a movie or TV while there driving. So they found a way to bypass that safety feature.
I'm hoping to find a way to bypass it, most of the time when the Nav system will be used, there will be a passenger in the car to make the inputs.

I didn't realize it was illegal since the Mitsubishi nav systems can be used while driving, and if it was illeagal, how does Mitsubishi get away with it? I know this because I sell new Mitsubishi's. Have you actually looked up the law?
I just fig it was just something GM did on it's own.

If its a factory system good luck bypassing it. If there is a way, I dont think anyone here probably knows (as nobody here probably has a 2007 whatever) and/or nobody here would aid in something to impair the safety to others while on the road.

no offense. but i wouldnt risk it trying to change it.
just leave it.
i know the new pioneer avic-d3 unit wont allow you to type in new addresses or phone numbers, but it will allow you to change route from your history, or whatever.
why do you want to change your route while driving anyways?

There is a Federal mandate going into place on driver distractions and the vehicles accessories... OEM and Aftermarket, and the 15 second rule that Ryan mentioned will be used as a baseline.
GM is just leading the pack in meeting new vehicle standards.
