wel the system is almost finished, but now i ran into another problem again. im moving back to la perminantly in 5 weeks, and needles to say 2-18 inch subwoofer in a pick up truck massively limit how much lugage i can carry. i dont have a hole lot of stuff so i figured if i just bought some speakers grilles to protect the subs i can toss cothes and stuff back there. so i orderd speaers grills and they arent tall enough i need about a 3/4 inch spacer. tried cutting one out of wood and it just looked like shit, went to the hardwear store and check into cuttign it out of plexiglass and they didnt have anything thick. i thought about fiberglassing the wood ring i cutout but then realized i dont know how to fiberglass.
any ideas on how to make the spacer ring and keep it looking good?

Router both the inside and outside holes about 1/4" deep, then jigsaw the circle out and flush router the leftover edge. Nice and perdy.

it wasnt so much that the ring wasnt cut out goodand everything, its just that everything in the truck is apolstered and looking really nice but i didnt figure apolstry would stay on the ring considering it sits right on the sub you know. i tried painting it and it looked even worse. i had my pops come out and look and see what he thought and he told me to cut it out of oak and stain it, but i just dont think that would go with the look of the truck it would just be way out of place.
my roommate is a manager of a body shop and he wants to bondo them and paint them glow in the dark, wich would look cool in the dark but not in the light, not to mention how long will it take for the bondo to start cracking off.

haha yeah if i werent offered a grave yard job makin 21 an hour, i would probbly stick around here, but grave yard is perfect cause i would like to go to school and get certified (im a hevy equipment mechanic) its hard to find a job when all you have is 1 yer experience and no schooling, and then when you do find one they pay you about 5 bucks an hour less than someone whos certified and went to school. so from that point of view, its california or bust.

Your box is carpetted or vinyled, is it not? And the carpet/vinyl sticks to that?

yeah i just didnt know if it would stick considering its round so it will have alot of small tabs cut it in and it will be sitting on top of the sub..
if ur export opionion says it will stay then problem solved..

My opinion is far from expert. I was just wondering why you thought it wouldn't stay.

why not cut a circle out of 3/4, carpet it then mount the grills you bought to that. Make it just big enough to just fit around the sub and make it a couple inches wide
