sub problem

i bought a pioneer 800w mono amp to power 2 kove 10's in a custom box...i put a dhd crossover on it and my subs dont seem to hit right, like on mid bass and they dont really slam.......could i not have enough power going to the amp and crossover?? its about 10ft of 8gauge.
