A question about wood

I had in my basement and old sub box a friend gave me long time ago to settle a debt, the box has 2 12” DEI pro drivers in it , these where pretty decent dual VC subs in 2000 able to handle good power.

I completely forgot about it until a few days ago. It was well stored in a controlled temperature environment. So today I tried it in the car with only about 125W and not bad not bad.

Question I have is this;
Since the box seems to be made out of chipboard and is kind of loose at the seams also it’s a very small box I evaluate that each speaker has about 0.7 Cubic inch of air. Would redoing a slightly bigger box (1 cubic inch/speaker) out of MDF make a big difference?

Thanks

u would have to resin it to get it to work correctly.

Yes, you would see a difference between mdf and low density particle board, especailly if you ported the box correctly

And the subs response would be better with that lil bit of extra air.
