Your thoughts?
I'm probally going to join.
I have to lose roughly 40lbs before I can actually go to take the physical because McDonalds screwed me up. I should sue them for liposuction.
Anyways, back to topic
Does anyone have positive/negative feedback/opinions on National Guard.
My biggest concerns are:
1.) Pay
2.) Pay
3.) Not getting shot

It's the burger's fault I'm fat, not mine cause I have no self control! haha
I'm pretty sure Jeremy and Glass have or are still in the military.

I was in the active Army, but could not tell you what the pay is since Nat Guard is like part time. If you join the National Guard the getting shot at part should come as no surprise, only fools would say that they didn't think they could ever go to war. One thing the guard does do, I believe, that if you come in for a weekend drill and they send you home right after noon you will probably get paid as if you worked the whole day, and I believe it will be the same if you work over 1 or maybe 2 hours you get paid for half a day.

Pay to start off sucks. Once you make E4 it isn't to bad. If you get deployed the pay is pretty good, tax free, hostile fire, famialy seperation if your maried.
The REAL Money is getting stationed overseas (germany, italy, japan), or getting deployed / sent on temporory duty to some place nice.
I just spent a month in turkey, and I made about 1000 over my regular pay. A few months ago I was in romania, for 2.5 weeks, and made about 1200 over my regular pay. So the money is there, it just a matter of what you do, and if you want to travel. I work on fighters, so I am always getting sent some where, but I make alot of extra money, and get to travel all over the place.
EDIT. If your really worried about going to war, and getting shot, DON'T JOIN THE ARMY join the Air Force (reserve or nation guard). I know I will be in Iraqi pretty soon. BUT. I will be on base 24/7, and I won't be that close to the action. The same thing goes with AF reserve and NG. Your going to go, but you WAY less likely to be on the front line. ESPECIALY if you work on planes.

i don't care what people say... i'd rather join the navy and be on a boat in japan than join the army and be in the sights of an AK being held by some maniac terrorist. call me a pussy for that sure.

PUSS....... I don't blame you. The marines and army were chasing me big time after I took the ASVAB, but I ain't dumb. I knew I would go to war before my 20 years was up, so that left the AF, or NAvy. I wouldn't mind the places i would get to see with the navy, but 6 months every 1.5 to 2 years on a boat, hot bunking with some dude I don't know. No thanks, AF here I come.

well you get to know them.. but it doesn't sound too bad as long as they clean the sheets and people don't fuckin play with themselves in the bed or something.
