Ok, so component help again, but I wanna piece together a set

OK, so I know we've been through this already, but to make it easier on my wallet, I would rather piece together a set of components than to just all out buy something. Meaning, I could do like $100-$120 for just the 6.5" woofers, then a while later, do another $75-ish on a set of tweeters, then hop on epay and find myself a set of crossovers.

So.... I figured this place would be best to ask. I asked at one of the car websites I frequent, but it was pretty much a me and Ryan conversation, so I figured I would just hop over here.

Basically, I would like the mids/woofers to be 6.5", but I'm sure I could cram some 7" in there if I gotta. I'd like to keep them 4 ohm to make it easier on me. They will need to be small enclosure mids/woofers because there isn't a ton of space behind the door, and I don't wanna fabricate door panel pods unless I really gotta(I can steal some polyfill out of one of the boxes from work).

The tweeters, I would prefer them to be non-metal. It's just wayyy too sharp for my ear. Need to be 1" to fill the factory tweeter location(they are in a pretty damn good spot for factory). There isn't any provision to go larger than 1" unfortunately.

So.... shoot me stuff. I have ordered from http://www.partsexpress.com before with no issues, and I hear madisound.com is a good place to search also.

Now, if you have trouble finding stuff that isn't 4ohm, shoot some other stuff at me, and I guess I will have to figure out how I'm going to wire the stuff(or else get some help from some fellow members :happy055: ).

Go to town!

Could you go down to a 6" for the midbass...
Reason I ask is... what about the Bravox EXS 6" Midbass subwoofers.

Yeah, I could to 6"'s as well. Generally, anything in the 6-7" range is what I'm looking for.

Just looked up the spec's on them, they seem pretty nice actually. I can't seem to find a place to purchase them, unless it's directly from bravox.

You're going to want to make your own crossover, more than likely, if you're building a setup from raw drivers. Your door speakers are going to be IB, not small sealed.
Peerless makes great stuff for mids, although it might not quite be in your price range. Seas makes some good tweeters that are definately in your price range.
Let us know what you decide.

Making my own crossovers, eh? Got any links on this? I'm up for a challenge!

I've always heard good things about Seas stuff, so I'll keep them in mind when looking for the tweeters.

It'll give you the basics on how they work and how to setup a highpass, lowpass, and bandpass. And like Smoker said, active is also another option.
