I recently just bought a new sub that I hooked up and had playing for like 2 hours (not continously) then just quit working. The sub sounds like its trying to work but its like its not getting enough power. Just wanted to know if the amp went out or is the spearker blown. I have a Kicker Comp and a Kicker Kx150.2 amp in a S-10.

When I first turned it on the gain wasn't up high at all and after the problem I messed around with it to see but the speaker still doesnt seem like it is getting enough power. I tried hooking it up to each channel instead of bridging it but it still dones't play right. I do beleive the rca's are connected correctly

pull the speaker out and test the voice coils with a DMM after that put the DMM on AC 200 volt's and come back and tell me what you get.

i bet if you push on the cone it will start to make some noise, sounds like youve overdriven it and heated up the coil

By any chance did you have this in a truck style wedge box that fits behind the seat... If so I believe you bottomed out the sub due to lack of air space and gains being set too high... In lay terms; you blew the sub.

does the sub make a scratch sound when you move it.
